BOWL ATTENDANCE BREAKS A RECORD

Attendance at Hollywood Bowl averaged 11,891 for the 1985 season of 61 events sponsored by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, breaking the previous record (from 1984) of 11,411 for 60 events. Total attendance for the summer was 725,359, compared to 684,667 the previous summer.
Average attendance for the Philharmonic’s weekday and weekend subscription events was 12,847. Jazz concerts averaged 13,292. In addition to the evening programs, 32,614 young people attended Open House at the Bowl events during the six-week season (a figure not included in the attendance tabulations).
