A deer hunter from Ontario, missing for 36 hours in the rugged Big Pines Angeles National Forest wilderness area, was found safe today after a search by nearly 50 Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.
A passing motorist discovered Bernard Euell, 28, of Ontario about 10:30 a.m., walking near the site where his hunting companion reported him missing Saturday night, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman John Broussard said. Euell was disoriented and suffering from exposure but was otherwise unhurt, Broussard said. According to authorities, Euell and his partner, Eddie Verdusco, were hunting together about four miles west of the Big Pine area, off the Angeles Crest Highway, and became separated after Verdusco stopped to rest.
