SAN DIEGO — Mayor Roger Hedgecock, convicted of accepting illegal campaign contributions, today announced his resignation effective Oct. 18 as mayor of the nation’s eighth-largest city.
Hedgecock was downcast as he told reporters at a City Hall news conference of his plan to resign, which is mandated by state law for convicted officials.
