A 25-year-old San Diego woman who called police Friday afternoon to report that she shot a man who allegedly tried to rape her has been arrested for homicide, a police spokesman said.
Police officers found the body of 32-year-old Michael Beacnat clothed in a T-shirt and blue jeans on the floor just inside the front door of the woman’s house on Mount Miguel Drive in Paradise Hills. Police found a .38-caliber revolver in the living room.
The woman, Kathryn Prell, was taken to police headquarters for questioning and arrested at 10:20 p.m. Friday. Neighbors told police that they had seen Prell earlier in the day talking with Beacnat, who was unemployed.
Beacnat was shot once in the neck, according to a spokesman for the San Diego County coroner’s office.
