Louisiana Slew Heads Norfolk Stakes Field

A field of nine led by Louisiana Slew has been entered for today’s $278,900 Norfolk Stakes for 2-year-olds at the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita.
Louisiana Slew, a son of Seattle Slew bought for $2.9 million at the Keeneland yearling sale, will be after his second stakes victory at the Oak Tree meeting. On Oct. 2 Louisiana Slew edged Snow Chief by a neck in the Sunnyslope Stakes for his second victory in three races.
In today’s 1 1/16 mile race with $167,340 to the winner, Pat Valenzuela rides Louisiana Slew and Snow Chief will be among the opposition, ridden by Alex Solis. All entries carry 118 pounds.
Another stakes winner among the entries posted Friday is Au Bon Marche, winner of the recent Fall Festival Juvenile at Bay Meadows, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye.
