Improved results in certain pulp-based markets helped offset depressed wood-products and bleached-paperboard prices, resulting in slightly higher third-quarter earnings for Potlatch Corp., the company reported. Boise Cascade Corp. said its net profit dropped 37.9% in the third quarter, while another paper manufacturer, Great Northern Nekoosa, said its earnings slumped 68.5%.
