Palmdale resident Robert Janis, 37, lost three fingers of his right hand when he picked up a pipe bomb hurled through his bedroom window early this morning and it exploded, authorities said.
Janis was treated at Palmdale General Hospital and later transferred to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he was in fair condition. In addition to losing the fingers, Janis suffered wounds to his right leg and thigh and was being examined for possible chest and internal injuries. So far there is no known motive or suspect in the incident, said sheriff’s Deputy John Broussard.
