Comptroller Plans New Bank Disclosure Rules

NEW ORLEANS — Acting Comptroller of the Currency Joe Selby said Sunday that he plans to propose a rule requiring national banks to disclose to the public more information about their financial condition.
Selby told the American Bankers Assn. that he plans to sign a proposed rule this week that will require banks to file with the comptroller’s office financial information similar to the kind that the SEC requires of publicly traded companies.
