Catcher Carlton Fisk’s refusal to sign with the New York Yankees has killed a proposed seven-player swap between that club and the Chicago White Sox.
“Carlton has decided to stick to his original decision to become a free agent, which was made before the trade was discussed,” said Robert Teaff, an attorney who works with agent Jerry Kapstein.
Teaff said Fisk’s decision was based solely on his desire to test the free agent market and had nothing to do with his feelings about playing on the Yankees.
