Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, the jailed leader of an Oregon commune who complained about back pains and his cell mates’ smoking, was examined by the physician for the county jail in Charlotte, N. C., and was found to be “in excellent shape.” Rajneesh’s attorneys had requested examinations of the 53-year-old guru by private doctors because in “his physical condition, he should not be detained.” But U.S. Magistrate Barbara Delaney denied the request.
