Lucky Stores reported record third-quarter earnings of $23.2 million.
Revenue for the quarter totaled $2.3 billion, a 5% rise from the $2.19 billion reported in the comparable quarter of last year. Earnings in the third quarter of 1984 were $15.9 million.
Lucky President John M. Lillie said the earnings increase was led by continued strong gains in fabrics and automotive specialty stores. Gemco, whose earnings were affected by a strike in the third quarter of last year, also showed improved results.
Food store earnings held steady with modest sales gains.
Earnings for the 39-week period rose 24% to $72.3 million.
