Sweeney Sets Record as Fresno St. Romps, 47-6

FRESNO — Kevin Sweeney passed for 275 yards and two touchdowns Thursday night to break the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. career passing record and lead unbeaten Fresno State to a 47-6 victory over Wichita State.
Sweeney, son of Coach Jim Sweeney, is a junior. He clicked on 22 of 27 passes and boosted his career yardage mark to 8,262, breaking the old record of 8,018, set last season by Randall Cunningham at Nevada Las Vegas.
Sweeney also ran for a touchdown. Fresno State’s record is now 10-0-1.
