Articles That Touched the Human Spirit
A week ago I sat down at my favorite deli for what I thought was going to be a normal breakfast. I had my usual poached eggs and corned-beef hash, which was accompanied by coffee and the L.A. Times.
Things were proceeding as usual until I read Julie Cart’s article (“Her Olympic Victory Was a Breakthrough”) and Bruce Lowitt’s Associated Press piece (“Life of Steve Howe: Too Much, Too Soon”). I was moved to tears by both articles. Both articles touched the human spirit--which can be so strong and at the same time so fragile.
Please thank Cart and Lowitt for me. I hope they continue their search for the humaneness of the athlete.
