Miller and Nagel Go to Head of List for SDSU Athletic Director Position

SAN DIEGO — Fred Miller and Ray Nagel are the top candidates for San Diego State’s permanent athletic director position, a source close to the SDSU search committee said Saturday.
Miller was formerly the athletic director at Cal State Long Beach and Arizona State. He is currently a health studies and physical education instructor at Arizona State.
Nagel was formerly the executive vice president of the Rams and a former athletic director at Washington State and Hawaii. He is currently a corporate executive officer for the Bank of Hawaii.
Other candidates for SDSU athletic director are Vance Redfern, assistant athletic director at Illinois; and Randy Hoffman, associate athletic director at Maryland.
The search committee will give its recommendations to SDSU President Thomas Day this week. Day is expected to make his decision during the first week of December.
