HIGHLIGHTS: Hillcrest Christian jumped out to a 16-8 lead by intermission. . . . West Valley Christian threatened in the third period, outscoring Hillcrest Christian, 6-3, but Hillcrest Christian came on strong in the fourth with 10 points to win. . . . Hillcrest Christian led at the end of each of the last three periods despite a strong West Valley Christian defense led by Jim Reeve, who had six steals.

HIGHLIGHTS: Flintridge Prep’s Jeff Crawford scored 12 points in the first quarter, but only four the rest of the game, as the Rebels lost an opening-round game of the tournament. Flintridge trailed by only two entering the fourth quarter, but was outscored by nine to fall to 2-3 on the season.

HIGHLIGHTS: After struggling in its last two games, the Patriots’ defense came to lifeagainst the Eagles, grabbing 32 rebounds and 22 steals. William Gracia had nine steals and his brother Andy Garcia had five in the Christian Schools Athletic Conference Tournament.

HIGHLIGHTS: Jeff Miljanich gave Bell-Jeff a 2-0 lead when he hit a jump shot from the free-throw line and the Guards (5-2) never relinquished the lead en route to the consolation title.
