British Women Protest NATO Missile Decision

GREENHAM COMMON, England — Thousands of British women converged on the U.S. air base here Saturday in a protest marking the sixth anniversary of the decision by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to deploy U.S. cruise and Pershing 2 missiles in Europe.
Sixty-five demonstrators were arrested, most of them held for obstruction or trespassing and five for criminal damage, police said.
Among the women who linked arms, trying to encircle the base, was Glenys Kinnock, wife of Neil Kinnock, leader of the opposition Labor Party.
