Air Force Housing Proposal Backed
I have just come from the public meeting on Air Force housing in San Pedro. Never in my life have I heard or felt such vindictiveness and hatred. I live among these people and their feelings frighten me.
I heard a lot of people speak on this issue--90% against the housing, and the majority were speaking not from an understanding or knowledge of the issue but from selfishness and greed. I saw little common sense and honesty.
All the Air Force wants is 50 acres of land that is currently overgrown and neglected. They don’t want to put in bombs or airfields, no radars, no missile test sites. Just homes that are sorely needed.
People, remember, the military is who will ultimately defend you and the public in the event of a national crisis. Doesn’t that count anymore?
