La Palma : Former Councilman Released From Jail

Former La Palma Councilman Kenneth Tipton was ordered released Tuesday after spending one day in Orange County Jail for contempt of court, Tipton’s attorney said.
Orange County Superior Court Judge John H. Smith had ordered Tipton to pave an easement leading to Tipton’s neighbor’s house. Smith found Tipton in contempt of court on Monday when the work had not been completed to the judge’s satisfaction.
The paving issue stems from a civil dispute between Tipton and his neighbors Dag and Pat Fossen.
The paving was completed Tuesday and Smith ordered Tipton released, according to Ramon S. Kuzbicki, Tipton’s attorney. Tipton resigned from his council post last week. He was censured earlier in December by fellow council members for his conduct in the Fossen matter.
