Mother, Daughter Bearing Up Well After Timeout

CHICAGO — Late in the first half of the Chicago Bears-New York Giants playoff game Sunday, Karen McGinn took a timeout--to give birth to a daughter.
“In between contractions, she stopped and looked at TV in the labor room,” her husband, Ed, said. “She kept saying that she hoped to get done by halftime.”
She was.
At 9:27 a.m. PST, when the Bears were leading, 7-0, Katherine Lynn, 7 pounds, 6 ounces, arrived in the delivery room at Resurrection Hospital.
Mrs. McGinn, 26, who arrived at the hospital at 6:30 a.m. PST Sunday, conceded, “It was kind of tough to concentrate with the labor pains.”
Once she was inside the hospital’s delivery room, which has no television set, her husband had to relay the action on the field to her.
“She’d ask what was happening, and I’d say, ‘Well, they just punted,” said McGinn, also 26.
