Reynolds Metals Co.’s extrusion plant in Torrance has undergone a multimillion-dollar expansion, including installation of a third extrusion press. The expansion triples the floor space to more than 80,000 square feet, and the annual output is expected to increase from 12,000 tons to 18,000 tons. The work force is expected to increase from 85 to more than 100 employees.
The extrusion operation, which produces aluminum shapes for industrial uses, has an annual $6.5-million economic impact in the Torrance community, including payroll, local purchases and taxes, according to a company spokesman.
