Coffey Named Editor at Dallas Times Herald

Shelby Coffey III, editor of U.S. News & World Report, on Wednesday was named editor of the Dallas Times Herald, a 270,000-circulation newspaper owned by Times Mirror, publisher of the Los Angeles Times.
Coffey, 39, fills the vacancy left several weeks ago by the resignation of Will Jarrett.
Coffey edited U.S. News for nine months, coming to the national news magazine after a well-publicized search for an editor by Mortimer Zuckerman, the real estate magnate who bought the magazine last year.
Before U.S. News, Coffey worked for 17 years at the Washington Post, where he held several key posts including deputy managing editor and assistant managing editor for national news. Coffey was widely discussed as a possible successor to Post Executive Editor Benjamin C. Bradlee.
