Peter Wirnsberger of Austria won his fourth straight World Cup downhill to take the lead in the overall standings on Hahnenkamm weekend at Kitzbuehel, Austria.
Wirnsberger’s time of 2 minutes 2.04 seconds down the 2.2-mile Streif track was 15/100ths of a second faster than teammate Erwin Resch. Racers reach speeds exceeding 80 m.p.h. on the course.
Olympic gold-medal winner Bill Johnson of Malibu was eighth.
