A top Republican Party official said in Scotia, N.Y., that Chrysler Corp. Chairman Lee A. Iacocca is “difficult to work with” and had made it virtually impossible for her foundation to raise money for the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. Eunice Whittlesey, former executive director of the New York Statue of Liberty Celebration Foundation and an executive committee member of the state Republican Party, said: “The other foundation--Iacocca’s--felt they were going to control everything.”
