Unbeaten Muir Girls Seeded First in 4-A Southern Section

Muir High of Pasadena, unbeaten in 25 games, was top seeded in the girls’ Southern Section 4-A Division basketball playoff pairings released Monday. The Mustangs have been a finalist the last two years, losing to Ventura Buena and Compton.
First-round play will start Friday.
Buena (23-0) is seeded second, followed by Lynwood (22-3), and Fountain Valley (21-5). Muir and Buena, rated Nos. 1 and 3 in the nation, respectively, by USA Today, could meet in the final March 7 at Cal Poly Pomona.
Brea-Olinda (22-3) and Tustin Foothill are seeded first and second, respectively in the 3-A Division. They met in the final last year with Foothill upsetting Brea-Olinda, 63-34. Woodland Hills Louisville is seeded third, and Palmdale, a semifinalist last year, is seeded fourth.
In the 2-A Division, Chino (24-1) is top seeded. La Habra (21-4) is second, Montebello (21-2) is third and Brawley (20-2) is fourth.
Defending champion Valley Christian of Cerritos (23-2) is top seeded in the 1-A, followed by Oxnard Santa Clara (19-4), Covina Charter Oak (20-3) and Atascadero, 19-1.
Yucca Valley (20-2) is No. 1-seeded in the Small Schools Division. Rosamond (17-5) is seeded second; Maricopa (15-4) third, and Ramona Convent of Alhambra (14-5) is fourth.
