Irvine police officers arrested three men on suspicion of selling cocaine, ending a 1 1/2-month undercover investigation that started in Irvine and ended in Newport Beach, a police spokesman said Thursday.
Cary MacDonald Breeden, 25, and Richard Jody Breeden, 52, both of San Clemente, and Richard Louis Franchino, 26, of Costa Mesa, were arrested at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday and booked into Orange County Jail. The arrests came after an undercover officer bought a kilo of cocaine for $40,000, Lt. Robert Lennert said. The cocaine has a street value of $200,000.
The sale of the cocaine took place at R & R Custom Woodworks, a Newport Beach business apparently run by Franchino, Lennert said. Bail was set at $25,000 each. The Breedens share the same address, Lennert said, but he was unsure of their relationship.
