The father of Baby Moses, the longest surviving infant heart recipient, has been arrested for investigation of possessing tear gas canisters believed stolen from the Army. The arrest of Nicholas Aguaino, 22, a tank crewman assigned to Ft. Irwin, followed a domestic squabble, San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokesman Jim Bryant said. Bryant said the family had been living in a housing unit near Loma Linda University Medical Center since the infant’s surgery there on Nov. 20. Aguaino wanted to move to the base near Barstow, while his wife wanted to move in with her parents in Etiwanda. Aguaino left the house with Baby Moses and his wife called Loma Linda security guards, who contacted sheriff’s deputies because of concerns that Aguaino might be armed, Bryant said. Aguaino took the infant to the medical center where he hoped to discuss his family problems with a social worker. Security guards found the allegedly stolen items in a garage near the house.
