The CD sound is particularly kind to the recorder, and this ancient wind instrument often eclipses strings that sound a bit distorted. Petri makes the most of the situation with stunning virtuosity and perfect control. Nothing seems hurried no matter how fast the pace because she always emphasizes musicianship over everything else. The music, especially Naudot’s Concerto in G, is ingratiating.
