Rain Shortens the Bay Hill Tournament

ORLANDO, Fla. — Thunderstorms and soggy conditions forced PGA officials to cancel the second round of the $500,000 Hertz Bay Hill tournament Saturday.
The tournament will conclude with 36 holes today. The field was cut to the low 70 scores and ties Saturday, using Thursday’s first round as the basis for the cut.
The cut was made at four-over-par 75, and 79 players made the cut. It was the second time this year two days of a golf tournament had been stopped by rain. At the AT&T; Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, rain washed out Sunday’s round and an attempt to complete the final 18 holes Monday.
In another rain-shortened tournament this year, Bob Tway, the leader here with a 66, won the Shearson Lehman Bros. Andy Williams Open.
