WASHINGTON — Nicaraguan First Lady Rosario Murillo de Ortega canceled a planned trip to the United States to attend a drug conference where Nancy Reagan will speak because she has not been granted a visa, the Nicaraguan Embassy said Wednesday.
Embassy spokeswoman Sarali Porta said that Murillo de Ortega was to have left this morning for the U.S. “but as of last night the U.S. Embassy in Managua still had not given her a visa.”
She was to have attended a drug prevention conference in Atlanta.
Murillo de Ortega was to have been in the United States a week and after the Atlanta conference was to have visited New York and other cities including Washington.
