A vacant furniture warehouse at Colorado Avenue and 11th Street in Santa Monica has been renovated and redesigned as a U.S. Postal Service mail-sorting facility.
The $1.3-million project was designed by Matlin & Dvoretzky architects of Santa Monica. Beverly Hills developer Larry Field of the Richlar Partnership is leasing the 15,500-square-foot facility to the Postal Service. An existing facility across the street will remain in use.
The new building is primarily for mail sorting but has a public area for picking up packages. Parking for 106 cars is provided, officials said.
