Griglione Wins Two More Golds in Swim Nationals

ORLANDO, Fla. — Michelle Griglione of Alexandria, Va., earned her second and third gold medals of the Phillips 66-U.S. Swimming Short Course National Championships Thursday, winning the 400-yard individual medley and anchoring her 800-yard freestyle relay team to victory.
Griglione, swimming with the Curl Swim Club of Darnstown, Md., won the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:12.95 and teamed with Christine Smith, Jennie Sawyer and Kelley Davies to win the relay in 7:16.80.
Griglione won the 200 butterfly Wednesday on the second day of the five-day event.
Dutch Olympian Conny Van Bentum won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.67 to claim her second gold medal of the meet. Van Bentum, representing the Golden Bears team from Berkeley, won the 100-yard freestyle one night earlier.
In men’s competition, Troy Dalbey of San Jose and Hungarian Tamas Darnyi were individual winners, and Dalbey anchored the winning 800 relay team from San Jose Aquatics.
Dalbey won the 200 freestyle in 1:35.34 and completed the winning relay in 6:32.85. Darnyi took the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:46.67.
