Ted Bailey hit a three-run triple in the second inning to highlight Fullerton High School’s 12-9 victory over host Buena Park in Freeway League baseball Thursday.
The game was a makeup of a rainout earlier this season. After Buena Park cut Fullerton’s 9-1 lead to 9-8, the Indians rallied for three runs in seventh. Jim Oyos had a home run, double and three runs batted in for Buena Park (0-3).
In the Serra Tournament:
Orange Lutheran 9, Salesian 0--Matt Zaun homered, doubled, and pitched the last two innings for host Orange Lutheran. Zaun relieved winning pitcher Ward Lookabaugh in the sixth inning and struck out four. Mike Amling was 2 for 2 and had four steals for the winners.
In nonleague action:
Irvine 6-3, Savanna 1-4--The Vaqueros’ Bob Hamelin hit a two-run homer and later stole home to lead his team to a first-game victory at Brookhurst Park. In the second game, a misjudged fly ball in the bottom of the seventh allowed a runner to score from third with the winning run. Irvine is 9-6-1.
