Letter Bomb to Dole Intercepted

WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole was the target of a letter bomb that was intercepted by postal officials about 10 days ago and found to be inoperative, the senator’s office said today.
“We were tipped to it and able to cut it off before it got to Capitol Hill,” said Walt Riker, the Kansas Republican’s press secretary. The package was found by District of Columbia postal officials working with the FBI and the office of the Senate sergeant at arms, Riker said.
