College Baseball : Fullerton Blanked by Chapman

Chapman College shortstop Rob Wolkoys hit to home runs as the Panthers beat Cal State Fullerton, 8-0, Tuesday night in Fullerton in nonconference baseball action.
Three Panther pitchers, Mark Bradley, Mark Braverman and Jon Hulshof combined to stop Fullerton’s seven-game winning streak. Chapman is 11-17, Fullerton is 23-10.
In other nonconference action:
Unites States International University 5, UC Irvine 4--Bob Esquerra’s RBI single in the seventh inning led the Gulls. Esquerra had three hits and Mark Waters had three RBIs, including a two-run double in the first, for the Gulls (12-24). Bob Sugar’s two-run homer in the first ignited a three-run rally for the Anteaters.
San Diego State 6, UC Irvine 3--San Diego State scored three times in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead and twice more in the seventh. Aztec Steve Mills (2-0) held the Anteaters hitless for the final 3 innings for the win. The Anteaters are 11-13-2 after losing twice Tuesday.
Southern California College 4, UC San Diego 1--Senior left-hander Tim Fortugno (5-1) had nine strike outs in five innings for the Vanguards.
He has 93 strikeouts 52 innings. Ron Nelson and Kevin Kasper were both 2 for 3 with solo home runs for SCC (17-9).
In South Coast Conference action:
Cypress 8, Cerritos 5--Catcher Pat Longo had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Chargers (6-3, 20-6) over the Falcons, who have lost four straight in conference. Jeff Mooney (3-1) got the win and Erik Silvey got his fourth save. Jim Jackel and Rene Licon were each 3 for 4 for the Chargers. Jeff Nicks had two hits and two RBIs, also for Cypress. The Chargers moved into a second place tie with Rancho Santiago at 6-3. Orange Coast College is in first at 9-0.
Golden West 3, Rancho Santiago 2--Jeff Olsen tied the game 2-2 in the fifth with a double and scored the winning run on an infield error for the Rustlers (4-5). Eric Shirley hit a home run for Golden West. Mike Scawabe (5-1) lost for the Dons (6-3, 15-5).
Fullerton 6, Mt. San Antonio 1--Mike Baker was 4 for 4, with one RBI, and John Morin hit his second home run of the season as the Hornets (5-4, 11-10) beat the Mounties. Jeff Oberdink, had two hits each driving in a run. Rob DeYoung (3-2) got the win.
Saddleback 11, Compton 3--Greg Develk was 3 for 5 with two RBI, Mike Frei was 2 for 5, with two RBIs and Scott Hefner and Todd Inglehart were each 2 for 5 with two RBIs as the Gauchos (4-5, 12-7) had little trouble. Bill Dodd (4-3) went seven innings, allowing one earned run for the win.
