Sen. Paula Hawkins (R-Fla.) underwent surgery to relieve chronic back and shoulder pain, and doctors said she was in good condition and should be out of the hospital in Durham, N.C., in several weeks to resume her reelection campaign. Hawkins was awake and her vital signs were stable after the operation on her upper back and shoulder at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Blaine Nashold said.
