SDSU’s Women Get Track Sweep; Men Lose 2 of 3

The SDSU men and women’s track and field teams were at Stanford Saturday for three dual meets, and the women stole the show.
The women Aztecs defeated Stanford (88-57), Fresno State (83-62) and Washington (78-67), improving their record to 12-1. The men’s team also defeated Stanford (91-69), but lost to Fresno State (84-78) and Washington (80-79), dropping its record to 9-5.
Renee Ross won the 400-meters and 800-meters, then teamed with Denise Craven, Brigitte Moon and Sonya Smith to win the 400-meter relay. Gaylen Ames won the triple jump with a leap of 37-feet, 3/4-inches.
Ed Cooper took first in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles for the men. Andre Freeman won the 200-meters, and joined Aaron Thigpen, Darryl Hudson and Rex Brown to win the 400-meter relay.
