SHADES OF ‘60S AT DEAD CONCERT

Sixty-four Grateful Dead fans were arrested over the weekend at a pair of Orange County concerts that saw extensive public drunkenness and drug use, Irvine police said Monday.
“It was real shades of the ‘60s,” said Irvine Police Department watch commander Sgt. Tom Hume, of the Saturday and Sunday night shows at the 14,000-seat Irvine Meadows Amphitheater.
Hume said that the last similar problems that the department had was last year at another Grateful Dead show.
Forty-two persons were arrested Saturday night, and 22 on Sunday. Most arrests were for alcohol-related infractions or drug sales, Hume said.
There were two arrests for assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a police officer.
