Warning to Mike the Dog: Benji’s not going to lie down and play dead.
The moppish mutt goes before the cameras in June in “Benji the Hunted,” and supervising producer Caroline Camp is calling the role “Benji’s greatest acting challenge yet.”
The plot’s a secret--but Camp revealed that “after the first few minutes, there won’t be any human dialogue.”
As for the competition? “I thought Mike enhanced the film (“Down and Out in Beverly Hills”) and we wish him well . . . but Benji has an entirely different appeal.”
Shocking footnote: Benji is actually the daughter of the original Benji. “That’s right--the character is a he, but the part is played by a lady,” said Camp, who said there are no little Benjis on the horizon. “She’s been too busy working. She hasn’t had time.”
