U.S. Retaliatory Raid on Libya

Query to President Reagan and his advisers:
If a military attack on a country perceived to be supportive to terrorists is effective, why are the Israelis still subject to terrorist attacks?
So we have “showed them”--but what have we achieved? We have antagonized all the Arab nations, we have put the Europeans into a desperate “we are neutral” position (after all, they are a lot closer to retaliation from Libya than we are), and we have given the Soviets a wonderful excuse to confront us militarily if that is what they want to do.
