The last local chapter of the Campaign for Economic Democracy, an activist-liberal group established by Assemblyman Tom Hayden and his actress-wife, Jane Fonda, has been disbanded in Chico. “Chico was the last holdout,” Bob Mulholland, the CED’s state political director, said. He said the organization, which once had 30 chapters throughout the state, will no longer maintain them, although it will have offices in Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Jose and San Francisco. The new emphasis, he said, is on state and national elections rather than local politics.
