Courier Shot, $85,000 Taken

A bank courier was shot and seriously wounded today as he left the Golden State Sanwa Bank in Pasadena after making a pickup, and his assailant fled with a backpack containing $85,000 cash, police said.
The courier, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was shot once in the back outside the bank on South Lake Avenue, Officer Mike Guerin said. He said the courier worked for a local check cashing service.
