Edwards Defense Rests Case

NEW ORLEANS — Moments after a federal judge denied all motions for acquittal, the defense today in the racketeering and fraud trial of Gov. Edwin W. Edwards and four co-defendants rested its case without calling any witnesses.
U.S. District Judge Marcel Livaudais Jr. set closing arguments in the trial for Monday.
