Health Care Property Investors Inc. (HCPI), a Costa Mesa real estate investment trust, said it has paid $7.25 million for two long-term convalescent care facilities that it will lease back to the original owners. HCPI said it paid National Health Care Affiliates Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., $3.35 million for a Derby, Conn., facility. Columbia Corp. of Nashville, Tenn., was paid $3.9 million for a facility in Mobile, Ala.
The acquisitions bring HCPI’s real estate portfolio to 47 properties with a value of $184 million. The properties the company owns and leases out consist of a psychiatric hospital, two acute-care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital and 43 long-term convalescent facilities with a total of 5,543 beds.
