Capital Episcopalians Elect Assistant Bishop

WASHINGTON — Episcopal clergy and lay delegates representing the capital’s diocese Saturday chose the Rev. Ronald Haines as their assistant bishop.
Second in the election by the 320 delegates representing 27,000 members of the diocese was a woman priest, the Rev. May Chotard Doll, who led the voting in early rounds. Haines, 52, was deputy to the bishop of the diocese of western North Carolina.
