General Counsel of NAR Named Chief Executive

William D. North, general counsel and acting chief executive officer of the National Assn. of Realtors, has been named to fill the association’s chief executive officer post, vacant since the resignation of Jack Carlson.
North, with the 700,000-member association since 1970, has been acting chief executive office since January. He is a member of the Chicago, Illinois and American Bar associations, has served on the trade association committee of the antitrust section of the American Bar Assn.
A native of Oregon, North graduated from the University of Illinois in 1952. After military service, he received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1959.
