What with the recent fire at the Los Angeles Central Library, the Night Stalker preliminary hearings, etc., you would think there’d be enough hard news to allow all TV news reporters plenty of stories to follow. But watching KABC-TV newscasts leads the viewer to another conclusion. In recent weeks there have been daily “special reports” on sexual attraction, young lovers and extramarital affairs. Is the entire world really this mixed-up, or was KABC just hoping to catch lots of titillated viewers during the May ratings sweeps? I don’t consider myself at all prudish, but I think this infatuation with sex during the evening news is really disgusting.
