Brad Park was fired as coach of the Detroit Red Wings, who finished the 1985-86 National Hockey League season with a 17-57-6 record, setting a club mark for defeats. Detroit General Manager Jimmy Devellano also relieved Park of his job as director of player personnel.
Park, 37, had replaced Harry Neale as coach last Dec. 29 after Neale, in his first season, had posted an 8-23-4 record. Under Park, the Red Wings were worse--8-29-2, not counting six games Park missed because of a league-imposed suspension.
