Paramount : Trash Collection Fee Rises

Beginning July 1, the cost of trash collection for both residential and commercial areas will increase by 7%.
The five-member City Council voted unanimously to grant the fee hike to Metropolitan Waste Disposal of Montebello.
The increase means that the residential fees would climb from $5.21 to $5.60 a month while average commercial rates would go from $5.50 to $7 per ton, said Sanford M. Groves, assistant city manager.
The fee increases were necessary to offset higher dumping fees at county landfills and other operating expenses, according to Metropolitan Waste.
