Costume and Design

Commenting on Mary Rourke’s article, “One of Hottest Properties in TV is the Costume Designer,” (May 23): We do not diminish designer Milina Canonero’s talent, but we remind the producers of “Miami Vice” that they owe a great deal to designer Jodie Tillen who originated and set the original look of “Miami Vice” male fashions.
Jodie Tillen and Robert Turturice, “Moonlighting’s” talented designer, are both products of Costumers Local 705, before becoming designers.
Many of today’s leading film and TV designers gained much of their experience as costumers and now apply their knowledge in the design field. This is a compliment to the Costumers Union that also lists some of the finest tailors and dressmakers in the industry who build the costumes that those famous designers get credit for.
