A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after police received the victim’s plea for an ambulance, a police spokesman said Sunday.
Police believe that the victim, Nicasio Gonzales of Stanton, had managed to call police despite being stabbed in the stomach and hand about 3:30 a.m., the spokesman said.
He was taken to UCI Medical Center where his condition improved from critical to fair and stable by late evening.
Police arrested Gonzales’ roommate, Urband Perez Plascencia, 21, of Stanton, after interviewing the victim and witnesses.
Plascencia was booked at the City Jail. Bail was set at $250,000.
